Christian education and study is a lifelong pursuit. Here at St. Augustine’s, we’re committed to this ongoing learning, and it forms and guides us in our life of faith. Throughout the year, there are a number of opportunities to engage in this kind of ministry.
Beginning during the pandemic lockdowns, we started to offer two weekly Bible Study sessions by Zoom. And we discovered that we enjoyed it so much, we kept them going even after the lockdowns lifted.
Our online studies are offered Mondays from 2pm until 3:30pm and Wednesdays from 7pm to 8:30pm. New participants are welcome anytime. The format is conversational with our priest facilitating the gathering. Each week, we look ahead to the readings for the upcoming Sunday. We consider the Old Testament reading and the Gospel reading.
Our Wednesday gathering meets almost every week of the year. Some exceptions are the week following Christmas, Ash Wednesday, and Holy Week leading up to Easter Sunday. Our Monday group does not meet in the summer months and is cancelled on statutory holidays.
To join in, sign up for our weekly e news. This will give you access to the Zoom coordinates for each meeting and to a PDF of the readings considered each week.
In some seasons of the church year, such as Lent, Christians are called to a particular time of study and preparation for the season of Easter. During Lent, we offer a study program on a topic of interest to the community.
From time to time, special learning opportunities and events are offered. Our calendar and featured events section gives details on upcoming events.
